Itinerary Overview

The following itinerary is a sample of our regular operations. Specific details may vary based on weather conditions, wildlife sightings, and other factors to ensure the best possible experience for passengers.

Departure from Ushuaia or Punta Arenas.

Embarkation:

Board your expedition vessel in either Ushuaia, Argentina, or Punta Arenas, Chile. Meet your fellow travelers and the expedition team, settle into your cabin, and attend a safety briefing as your adventure begins.

Crossing the South Atlantic and Exploring the Falkland Islands.

Travel across the South Atlantic towards the Falkland Islands, enjoying lectures on wildlife, history, and the ecology of the Southern Ocean provided by onboard experts. Watch for seabirds such as albatrosses, petrels, and possibly dolphins and whales. In the Falkland Islands, visit remote settlements and discover unique wildlife, including colonies of rockhoppers, Magellanic penguins, and black-browed albatrosses. Explore the charming capital, Stanley, with its British colonial architecture, museums, and local shops, learning about the islands' history and culture. Enjoy scenic hikes and Zodiac excursions to see diverse birdlife and stunning coastal landscapes.

Sailing to and Discovering South Georgia.

Continue your journey across the South Atlantic towards South Georgia, learning about the island's rich history and wildlife through onboard lectures and presentations. Watch for whales, dolphins, and seabirds that accompany the ship. In South Georgia, land at historic sites and explore the island's whaling history and its transition to a protected wildlife sanctuary. Witness one of the world's largest king penguin colonies, with thousands of birds, elephant seals, and fur seals, and marvel at the stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife, including gentoo penguins, elephant seals, and diverse bird species.

Sailing to and Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula.

Cross the Scotia Sea towards the Antarctic Peninsula, attending lectures on the continent's geology, history, and wildlife and preparing for the adventures ahead. Watch for seabirds and marine mammals as you approach the Antarctic waters. Once there, set foot on the Antarctic continent to observe gentoo penguin colonies amidst breathtaking glacial scenery. Navigate through iceberg-laden waters, taking Zodiac excursions to see seals lounging on ice floes and spectacular ice formations. Enter the caldera of an active volcano, explore its unique volcanic landscape, and visit an abandoned whaling station in certain areas known as "Whale-heim" Bay, spot humpback, minke whales, and crabeater seals.

Crossing the Drake Passage.

Reflect on your experiences as you cross the Drake Passage towards Ushuaia or Punta Arenas, enjoying the final lectures and presentations given by the expedition team. As you sail north, look for albatrosses, petrels, and possibly more marine life. On Days 23-24, after breakfast, disembark in Ushuaia or Punta Arenas, where you can explore the city or continue your travels in South America.
