Embarkation: Board your expedition vessel in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Meet your fellow travelers and the expedition team, settle into your cabin, and attend a safety briefing as your journey begins.
Navigate the challenging waters of the Drake Passage, participating in educational lectures by expert guides on Antarctic wildlife, geology, and history. Keep an eye out for seabirds such as albatrosses and petrels, and potentially your first whale sightings.
Explore the Weddell Sea and Eastern Antarctic Peninsula, starting with Antarctic Sound, known as "Iceberg Alley" for its gigantic tabular icebergs calved from the Larsen Ice Shelf, and enjoy Zodiac excursions to get close to these massive ice formations. If conditions allow, visit the emperor penguin colony at Snow Hill Island for a rare and unforgettable experience observing these majestic birds. Discover Paulet Island, home to a large Adélie penguin colony and the historic remains of a stone hut built by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition of 1903, and Devil Island, another fantastic spot for Adélie penguin sightings with dramatic views of the surrounding landscape. See nesting penguins at Brown Bluff, an ice-capped volcanic promontory, and explore impressive glacial and volcanic terrain. Finally, visit landmark locations associated with Ernest Shackleton's Endurance expedition, including Elephant Island and other significant sites in Antarctic exploration history.
